Rugby: Rugby-England suffer blow to Six Nations preparations with Farrell injury

(Reuters) – England captain Owen Farrell suffered an injury in coaching earlier this week, his membership Saracens stated on Friday, casting doubt on his potential to lead England within the Six Nations.

The flyhalf was named captain of the England squad by head coach Eddie Jones on Tuesday, regardless of not having performed since November due to an ankle injury sustained towards Australia.

“Owen was again in full coaching having recovered from the ankle injury he sustained towards Australia throughout the Autumn internationals,” Saracens stated in a press release.

“We could have an additional replace after he sees a specialist early subsequent week.”

England start their preparations for the Six Nations at a camp in Brighton subsequent week and open their marketing campaign away to Scotland on Feb. 5. They completed fifth in final yr’s Six Nations.
