KOTA KINABALU: A home monitoring call centre (HMCC) has been launched in Sabah to monitor Covid-19 patients who are undergoing quarantine at home.

State Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Shahelmey Yahya said HMCC would help to assist and keep tabs of infected patients under Category One and Category Two who do not require hospitalisation.

“Staff manning the HMCC will also give advice and psychosocial support to the patients,” he said in a statement after the launch of the call centre on Thursday (Sept 2).

HMCC is a collaborative initiative between the Health Ministry and Public Welfare Services Department.

On another matter, Shahelmey said the state government remained committed in expediting the Covid-19 immunisation programme to reach herd immunity in Sabah.

He said the government was also aware of the situations of hospitals involved in handling Covid-19 in Sabah and had been briefed on Sabah Health Department and Health Ministry’s measures and preparations to manage the situation.

“We are intensifying vaccination efforts so that the (Covid-19) situation subsides and is under control,” he said.
