Sabah water disruptions at crisis level, says Bung


KOTA KINABALU: The ongoing water provide disruptions in Sabah have reached crisis degree, says Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (pic).

“Our water supply disruption has become a major crisis and we are now making a proposal to the state Cabinet to help overcome the problem and ensure that consumers will be able to enjoy clean water supply,” he said.

The state Works Minister said he has been receiving complaints from many people.

“There is no water in Sandakan, in Kota Kinabalu. There is no water in the villages, and even my house does not have water.

“This is a crisis that needs to be addressed quickly,” he advised reporters at his Hari Raya Aidilfitri open home in Kinabatangan on Sunday (May 22).

Bung Moktar mentioned short- and long-term plans have been being drawn as much as deal with the water provide disruptions throughout the state.

He added that the proposal can be submitted to the state Cabinet within the close to future.

“I’ll submit a number of proposals to the Sabah Cabinet to determine as a result of it will be significant for us to find out the course of water on this state,” he mentioned.

“We want to beat the water problem comprehensively as short-term plans don’t utterly resolve it,” he added.
