Sarawak expected to impose MCO for two weeks from May 29


SIBU: Sarawak is expected to implement the movement control order (MCO) for two weeks commencing May 29, according to a local news portal.

The DayakDaily quoted State Disaster Management Committee, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah (pic) as saying that an announcement on the matter is expected to be made at a press conference at 5pm on Thursday (May 27).

“The decision for the implementation of the MCO was made at a meeting this morning, ” said the daily quoting a source.

This comes following a spike in Covid-19 cases in major cities and towns in the state which include Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.

“SDMC in its daily update yesterday revealed that 346 or 54.06% of the 640 cases were detected in the districts of Kuching, Sibu, Miri and Bukit Mambong, ” said the daily.
