KUCHING: A candidate was slapped with a RM4,000 compound notice for violating the Sarawak state election normal working process.

State police commissioner Comm Datuk Aidi Ismail mentioned the incident concerned an Independent candidate for the Krian seat on nomination day on Dec 6.

“The incident occured after the candidate submitted his nomination papers. When he exited the nomination centre, his supporters had crowded around him without following the SOP,” he mentioned on Tuesday (Dec 7).

Comm Aidi mentioned campaigns for the election have to this point been easy with SOP complied by candidates, events and their supporters.

Krian is situated in Saratok district, about 200km from Kuching.

Although the police didn’t identify the candidate, checks on the Election Commission web site revealed that there’s just one Independent candidate within the four-cornered battle for the Krian seat.

Datuk Ali Biju (pic) is the only real Independent candidate contesting towards Musa Dinggat representing Parti Sarawak Bersatu; Friday Belik (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) and Danny Kuan (Parti Bumi Kenyalang).
