PETALING JAYA: Kampung Lakai in Jelebu and a few areas in Cameron Highlands will be placed under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) along with a few locations in Sabah, says Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).
In a statement on Saturday (June 12), the Defence Minister said that Kampung Lakai in Jelebu, Negri Sembilan and the Kampung Raja areas in Cameron Highlands, Pahang will be placed under EMCO from June 14 to July 2.
Ismail Sabri said Kampung Lakai reported 92 cases and a high communal infection rate and that there was a surge of cases in Cameron Highlands in areas under Kampung Raja.
“The Health Ministry has reported 29 cases in areas in Kampung Raja in the past two weeks,” he said
“The NSC has decided to put Sungai Ikan, Blue Valley, Taman Matahari Cerah, Taman Desa Corina and Kamoung Baru Kampung Raja under an EMCO from June 14 to June 27,” added Ismail Sabri.
In Sabah, the areas put under an EMCO for two weeks beginning Monday (June 14) are Kampung Indah, Nabawan; Kampung Manggis, Kuala Penyu; Taman Kinabutan Ria and Simpang Inderasabah in Tawau; Kampung Baru (SFI), Sipitang; and in Kampung Tawadakan and Kampung Kota Bungan in Kota Belud.
Ismail Sabri also said that the NSC has decided to end the EMCO in Kampung Baru Melayu Bentong and Felda Jengka 24 near Jerantut, Pahang on Saturday.
The EMCO in Felda Sahabat 40 (Kg Kembara Sakti), Tungku, Lahad Datu and Kampung Padawan, Papar – both in Sabah – will end on Sunday (June 13).
Aside from these areas, the EMCO covering three housing areas in Mukim Juasseh in Kuala Pilah, Negri Sembilan as well as Ladang Chin Teck at Muadzam Shah, Rompin in Pahang will also end on June 13.
“The MCO Compliance Task Force arrested 887 individuals in the past 24 hours, with 849 individuals given compounds and 38 remanded,” said Ismail Sabri.
Among the main violations were cross-district travel without approval and failure to record details when entering premises.
Ismail Sabri also said that the travel monitoring continued with 984 roadblocks set up nationwide on June 11.
