A single web page of unique paintings from an acclaimed 1984 comic that includes Spider-Man bought for a record US$3.36mil (roughly RM14mil) in the United States on Jan 14, making the webslinger the world’s mightiest public sale superhero.
The web page options the first look of Spidey’s black symbiote go well with that will later result in the creation of anti-hero Venom in paintings by Mike Zeck from Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars No. 8.
“This web page was the massive reveal teased on the cowl! This is the place Peter Parker really bought his spiffy new black costume,” Heritage Auctions mentioned in its description of the paintings for web page 25 of the concern.
“But… it is a costume with a secret! Because it very quickly seems to be alive and have its personal agenda. This is the origin of the character Venom!”

Bidding for the paintings began at US$330,000 (RM1.4mil).
The earlier record for a single web page of paintings from the inside of an American comic guide was a body exhibiting the first picture of Wolverine in a 1974 concern of The Incredible Hulk. The web page bought for $657,250 (RM2.7mil).
A replica of 1938’s Action Comics No. 1, the first look of Superman, bought for US$3.18mil (RM13.3mil) on the first day of Heritage Auctions’ latest four-day comic occasion in Dallas, Texas, the public sale home mentioned on Twitter.
The copy was graded 6.0 by comic guide grading authority CGC. Two different copies of the world’s most well-known comic guide concern with a better grade have beforehand bought for extra at public sale, in line with The Hollywood Reporter. – AFP
