State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the wife who is Case 1,069 was staying and working in the same oil palm plantation as her husband, thus having close contact with the patient.

“Previous information found that the case did return to Kalimantan, Indonesia, and came back to Sarawak early in October this year, together with Case 1,066.

“The case was screened during the active contact detection (ACD) to Case 1,066 on Dec 5 and her result came back positive on Dec 6. She showed no signs or symptoms of Covid-19,” SDMC revealed in a statement today.

The second positive case reported today, Case 1,070, is a local male from Kuching who recently returned from Gabon, Central Africa on Dec 2. The patient was working as a bulldozer driver in a logging camp in Gabon.

He flew from Libreville, Gabon and stopped at a few places on the African continent including Dubai and United Arab Emirates (UAE) before landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 (KLIA1) on Dec 4.

“During his transit from KLIA1, the case underwent screening through the RTK antigen test but his result was not reactive to Covid-19. He then continued his journey to Kuching via a flight on the same day.

After his arrival in Kuching on Dec 4, Case 1,070 was admitted into a hotel serving as a quarantine centre hotel for the mandatory 14-day quarantine. There, his swab test on Dec 5 showed positive results. He was categorised as an Import A case.
