State records 18 new cases
KUCHING: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) yesterday reported 18 new Covid-19 positive cases, taking the total positive cases in the state to 306 to date.
SDMC deputy chairman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said, of the 18 cases, 14 are treated at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), three at Sibu Hospital and one at Miri Hospital.
“A total of 67 new persons under investigation (PUI) cases were recorded with the total PUI cases standing at 1,864. From the total, 1,503 cases tested negative for Covid-19 while 55 cases are pending lab results,” he told a daily press conference on the Covid-19 updates yesterday.
Thirty-eight of the PUI cases are from Kuching, 14 from Samarahan while Miri recorded five cases.
The other PUI cases are in Betong (three), Bintulu (two), and one each in Bau, Saratok, Sarikei, Sibu and Marudi.
Abdul Karim noted that compliance to the movement control order (MCO) stood at 96.5 percent, adding that 25 individuals were arrested for flouting the order yesterday.
Six of the errant individuals were arrested in Kuching, five in Mukah, four in Sibu, two each in Miri, Marudi and Lawas while Padawan, Samarahan, Serian and Lubok Antu recorded one arrest respectively.
Abdul Karim said a total of 4,148 police personnel are enforcing the movement control order throughout the state. They are assisted by 1,220 personnel from the Malaysian Armed Forces, Rela, APM and Police Volunteer Reserve (PVR).
