Tanzania plans to generate 200MW from geothermal energy by 2025

DAR ES SALAAM, April 17 (Xinhua) — The authorities of Tanzania plans to generate 200 megawatts of electrical energy from geothermal energy by 2025, an official stated on Saturday night.

Felchesmi Mramba, the everlasting secretary within the Ministry of Energy, revealed plans to generate the 200MW from geothermal energy on a go to to geothermal energy sources at Kiejo-Mbaka and Ngozi in Mbeya area.

Mramba stated Tanzania has recognized 52 areas which have the potential for geothermal energy era.

The official stated plans had been underway to generate a complete of 1,100MW from geothermal energy, solar energy and wind energy by 2025.

He stated Tanzania boasts plentiful geothermal energy sources that may very well be used to generate energy when dry spells occurred, affecting hydropower electrical energy era.

Mathew Mwangomba, the performing director common of the Tanzania Geothermal Development Company Limited, stated the Kiejo-Mbaka and Ngozi geothermal energy sources are anticipated to generate 70MW.
