YAN: A total of 2,500 teachers who have refused to be vaccinated will receive other assignments since they will not be allowed to conduct in person classes when school reopens.Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said there are other tasks the teachers can do.

“At the same time, we are discussing measures or ways to approach them with the Public Service Department (JPA)… InshaAllah (God willing), I will be contacting some of the teachers myself,” he told a press conference at SK Haji Nyak Gam yesterday after visiting the site of a water surge incident on Aug 18 in Yan district.

On Friday, Dr Radzi said the Education Ministry decided that teachers who refuse to be vaccinated will not be allowed to have face-to-face interaction with students when school reopens on Oct 3.

Dr Radzi also said that school authorities are still conducting a survey to gauge parents’ acceptance of the Covid-19 vaccine for their children.

“We are still waiting for feedback from parents. This is not a directive but a survey to get an idea, because vaccine-related matters are handled by the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee and the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force,” he said. — Bernama
