PETALING JAYA: Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz (pic) has been appointed the coordinating minister to drive the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Tengku Zafrul would oversee the implementation of strategies and assistance initiatives under the NRP.
In addition, the Finance Minister would also take appropriate and proactive intervention measures to handle the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The decision was made during the first National Recovery Plan Cabinet Taskforce (NRPCT) online meeting.
“The meeting also agreed to strengthen collaboration with subject matter experts, particularly health, economic and social, to get feedback and continue to assess the effectiveness of current public health measures, patient management strategies at hospitals and vaccination strategy,” he said in a statement.
The Prime Minister said the country was on the right track in managing the pandemic with the involvement of various experts.
He also said the government was aware of the hardships faced by the people and would initiate efforts to achieve the NRP’s goals.
“To ensure that the recovery plans are carried out smoothly, the Economic Stimulus Implementation and Coordination Unit under the Finance Ministry has been appointed the secretariat to the NRPCT to coordinate initiatives related to the NRP.
“The NRPCT will monitor the implementation of various strategies to free the country from the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.
The meeting was chaired by Muhyiddin and attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as well as Senior Ministers Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba and Tengku Zafrul were also present.
