SONGKHLA: Thai native authorities arrested 40 Myanmar nationals who have been trying to enter Malaysia illegally by way of Sadao, Songkhla, close to the Thai-Malaysia border.

In the incident at about 1am (native time), authorities arrested the Myanmar nationals, comprising 31 males and 9 girls, who have been hiding in a rubber plantation in Samnak Kham close to the Sadao-Bukit Kayu Hitam border.

Sadao district police chief Pol Col Bantern Laochareng stated the group of Myanmar nationals have been believed to have been introduced by middlemen from Myanmar to Thailand by boat by way of Ranong on March 31.

“They have been taken to the Thailand-Malaysia border whereas ready to be smuggled into Penang, Malaysia final night time.
