A few days before its participation in the famous Pikes Peak hill climb race in the United States, Bentley has presented a brand new race car steering wheel that can also be used as a video game accessory.
The new steering wheel designed specifically for the Bentley Continental GT3 expected at Pikes Peak has been produced in partnership with Fanatec, a specialist in video game hardware, especially in racing simulators.
Made of carbon fiber and magnesium, this racing wheel is equipped with a quick release system that works with the sports car, but also with compatible video simulators. The idea is to get it on the market soon in order to offer simulator fans a real racing car steering wheel. Bentley drivers will be able to switch from real racing to simulator easily by keeping the same steering wheel.
The 310-mm diameter steering wheel features a 3.4in central display that shows a variety of information, including gear ratio and speed. It also features two directional sticks, a pair of aluminum thumb wheels and four magnetic paddles, two for gearshifting and two auxiliary. Finally, each button is backlit.
Pikes Peak is the world’s most famous hill climb race. Its 99th edition will be held in Colorado on Sunday, June 27, 2021. This year’s Bentley Continental GT3 with 750 hp is aiming to break the hill-climb record in its class. – AFP Relaxnews
