TM: UnifiTV experiencing service disruption nationwide due to fire at IT complex

PETALING JAYA: Restoration work is underway for the UnifiTV service which has been affected by a fire that broke out at a Telekom Malaysia constructing in Cyberjaya.

The firm issued a press release explaining the fire incident occurred final night time (Jan 3) and the service disruption is affecting UnifiTV service nationwide, the place it has shut to 300,000 subscribers.

“At approximately 9.50pm on 3 January 2022, unifiTV experienced service disruption nationwide due to impact to the power system triggered by a fire that affected the ‘Uninterruptible Power Supply’ (UPS) equipment at TM’s IT Complex in Cyberjaya,” the corporate stated in its assertion.

It added that the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia “took control of the situation to extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of the premises”, and that no accidents have been reported.

“The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and TM will fully cooperate with any investigation as required by authorities.”

The telco added that its TMPoint outlet in Cyberjaya shall be quickly closed due to low energy provide. It assured clients that different TM and Unifi providers aren’t affected. The UnifiTV service is predicted to be restored by 3pm at this time (Jan 4).

UnifiTV is an IPTV service supplied by TM although Unifi with plans ranging from RM30/month-to-month.

In a Dec 24 announcement, the corporate stated it has restored the providers of 85% or 84,274 clients that have been affected by the flood in 4 states. It added that RM13mil has been allotted to change gear and different community parts without cost.
