PETALING JAYA: Various mechanisms have been put in place in the Transport Ministry to ensure it becomes an exemplary institution that is free from corruption, says its minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

He said the government had earlier launched the National Anti-Corruption Plan (2019-2023) on Jan 29, 2019, that outlined the need for every government agency to obtain the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABSM) certification.

“The development and implementation of the certification of ABSM, together with the launch of the Anti-Corruption Management System (SPAR) manual this year shows that the Transport Ministry is heeding the calls made by the government to be the benchmark of an excellent organisation in terms of good governance, integrity and anti-corruption,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (July 1).

He said this following the launch of the SPAR manual for the Transport Ministry in Putrajaya on June 30.

Dr Wee said that the manual will be a reference and guide for each unit and departments under the purview of the Transport Ministry, in order to provide necessary documentation and requirements towards obtaining the ABMS certification.

The ABSM introductory session to officers and staff of the ministry and the launch of the ABSM bunting by the ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Isham Ishak on April 20, had kick-started the initial certification ABSM project and pre-launching of SPAR at the ministry.

“With the implementation of this holistic framework, I am confident that the anti-corruption management system of the ministry will be able to create a highly reputable service delivery ecosystem with high reputation, beyond expectation of stakeholders and the rakyat,” added Dr Wee.
