Two under remand over RM500,000 corruption case


JOHOR BARU: A retired government-owned firm supervisor and one other supervisor from a special agency have been remanded for 5 days to assist with the investigation of an alleged RM500,000 corruption case.

The remand order towards them was issued by Magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin at a Magistrate’s Court right here on Thursday (Jan 6).

The remand interval is till Monday (Jan 10).

According to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) sources, the 2 suspects, each 61, have been arrested on the MACC workplace right here between 12.30pm and 5pm on Wednesday (Jan 5).

It was learnt that between 2019 and 2020, the retired suspect, who was once the supervisor of a government-owned firm in Segamat, had allegedly obtained bribes from the opposite supervisor as inducement to obtain contracts within the plantation trade within the district.
