WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A member of the U.S. air pressure has been taken into custody in connection with an April attack in Syria that wounded 4 fellow service members, the Air Force mentioned on Tuesday.
The U.S. navy initially blamed the attack in Green Village in jap Syria on oblique hearth, probably a rocket strike.
It later mentioned additional investigation confirmed the blasts had been the results of “deliberate placement of explosive expenses” at an ammunition holding space and bathe facility, and officers mentioned they had been wanting into the potential for an insider attack.
The Air Force declined to establish the service member.
“As a part of an ongoing investigation, on June 16, an Airman was taken into custody stateside in conjunction with the attack in Green Village, Syria,” Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanek mentioned in a press release.
“After reviewing the data in the investigation, the Airman’s commander made the choice to put him in pretrial confinement.”
CNN was first to report the arrest.
U.S. navy officers say round 900 U.S. troops are working in Syria, primarily coaching and advising companion forces preventing the remnants of Islamic State militants.
