KYIV (Reuters) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy spoke to Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday and stated bilateral ties had made their armies stronger.

Ukraine has purchased and deployed Turkish drones within the conflict in opposition to Russian-backed forces in its jap Donbass area, angering Russia. Russia’s subsequent troop actions on Ukraine’s borders have sparked concern within the West.

Zelenskiy in a tweet stated the partnership with Turkey was deepening. “It is already strengthening the armed forces of our nations. The anticipated FTA may also contribute to financial progress.”
