UN launches ‘bodyright’ symbol against online violence

UNITED NATIONS, United States: The United Nations on Dec 2 launched a marketing campaign against gender-based violence on the Internet, full with a symbol which will be added to social media posts.

The symbol (pic) seeks to focus on that company logos and copyrighted Intellectual Property typically obtain better safety online than folks.

The UN inhabitants company UNFPA’s “bodyright” marketing campaign stated girls, younger folks, ethnic minorities and the LGTB neighborhood needed to be protected against online violence.

“Everyone has the right to live free of fear and violence – both online and offline,” UFNPA govt director Natalia Kanem stated.

“It’s time for technology companies and policymakers to take digital violence seriously.”

Eighty 5 p.c of ladies globally have skilled or witnessed digital violence against different girls, in line with a ballot by the Economist Intelligence Unit, and 38% have suffered it themselves.

UNFPA stated online violence included cyberstalking, hate speech, doxxing – publishing non-public details about a person – and non-consensual use of photos and video equivalent to deepfakes.

It stated the symbol was a requirement that “images of our bodies are given the same respect and protection online as copyright gives to music, film and even corporate logos”. – AFP
