If ever a Belgian was in want of a passport over the previous century, it was intrepid cartoon journalist Tintin as he travelled the world seeking to stamp out bother.

Now, he can be travelling with each Belgian going abroad.

Belgium has up to date its passports and from February onward, the plethora of Gothic and baroque buildings in its pages will make method for one thing for which nation is probably identified even higher – its cartoon characters.
