There were some Thalasemia patients who had passed away during the Movement Control Order, due to insufficient supply of blood. 1 pack of this blood could save 3 lives” explained one of the blood bank staffs to us during the event.
On 29th of August 2020, KPJ SABAH SPECIALIST has hosted a blood donation drive collaborating with Hospital Queen Elizabeth Blood bank and Youth-empowerment NGO JCI Moyog, Sabah in Imago Shopping Mall.
The event started at 10am and registration was closed at 730pm, donors were queuing up by the entrance before the mall operation hour starts. 206 donors registered and we have manage to collect 154 pints of bloods in the 9 hours sprint. Everyone was working round the clock to cater to the throng of donors.

KPJ staffs were conducting free health screening and giving away prizes and goodies, JCI Moyog members were helping with the registration and crowd management to obey the SOP in place while the Hospital Queen Elizabeth doctors and nurses led by Dr Lew Chin Wei, were working tirelessly to help the donors with the donation.
“The feeling is beyond words when you see people queuing up to wait for their turn to donate blood. It is so satisfying to know that Malaysians truly practice #kitajagakita concept during this time of hardship. We can’t thank them enough for turning up and helping the community selflessly without asking for any rewards in return” Pn Miranda Harumal, CEO of KPJ Sabah Specialist
KPJ Hospital Staff and KPJ CEO.
