PETALING JAYA: More Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) members from Putrajaya are expected to follow in the footsteps of their former division chief who resigned to rejoin Umno, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Umno president said in a Facebook posting this past weekend that the party welcomed former members who wanted to return with an open mind and clear conscience.

Last Friday (Oct 1), former Putrajaya Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Erwan Mohd Tahir rejoined Umno after submitting his application to Putrajaya Umno chief Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor.

Erwan had said the time was right for him to rejoin Umno and that the party had managed to end political polemics that threatened the wellbeing of the people and economic stability during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aside from him, 120 division members also followed suit.

Ahmad Zahid said more Bersatu members were also looking for opportunities to rejoin “the largest Malay party in the country”.

“As long as they return to Umno with a sincere conscience and spirit and passion,” he added.
