Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette has re-signed for Lyon on a free switch – five years after leaving to affix the Gunners for a then membership file £46.5m.

Lacazette returns to the French membership on a three-year deal till June 2025.

The France forward scored 54 instances in 158 Premier League appearances for Arsenal and helped the Gunners win the 2020 FA Cup ultimate.

Speaking to Canal Plusexternal-link in April, Lacazette stated he had “by no means lower contact” with hometown membership Lyon.

Lyon stated they had been “very proud and really blissful” to announce Lacazette’s return to the membership he joined on the age of 12, including a deal “has been the membership’s precedence for a number of months”.

Lacazette, 31, rose by the youth groups at Lyon and scored 129 objectives in 275 matches in all competitions for them after breaking into the primary crew within the 2009-10 marketing campaign.

He was signed by Arsene Wenger in 2017 with the deal – as much as £52.6m with add-ons – surpassing the £42.4m Arsenal paid Real Madrid for Mesut Ozil in 2013.

With Lacazette’s contract expiring on the finish of June, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta admitted in April that Arsenal took a danger in delaying talks with the participant a couple of new deal.

“It is the settlement that we made with him. That was our place and our place stays the identical – that’s what we’re going to do,” Arteta added on the time.

“The danger of that taking place, it was at all times there for the reason that second we made that call, then it’s as much as him.”

Lacazette captained Arsenal after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has since joined Barcelona, was stripped of the armband by Arteta in December for a disciplinary breach.

Arsenal haven’t competed within the Champions League since 2016-17 and can play within the Europa League group stage in 2022-23 after ending fifth within the Premier League.
