BRASILIA (Reuters) – Brazilian senators investigating Brazil’s dealing with of COVID-19 have dropped a suggestion from their draft report that President Jair Bolsonaro be charged with murder for alleged authorities errors, Brazilian media reported Wednesday.
Senators main the congressional probe met late Tuesday to debate a report ready by opposition Senator Renan Calheiros and agreed to take away accusations of “murder” and “genocide,” a number of newspapers reported.
The draft report nonetheless must be voted on by the Senate fee and might be vetoed and altered.
Bolsonaro has dismissed the probe as politically motivated. It’s extremely unlikely that he’ll face trial on any such prices, which must be introduced by Brazil’s prosecutor basic, whom Bolsonaro appointed.
