MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Former Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva oversaw the signing of a pact on Wednesday between his leftist party and Mexico’s ruling Morena party, and promised closer ties if he wins Brazil’s presidential election later this 12 months.
Lula, who ruled Brazil from 2003 to 2010, is predicted to tackle President Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil’s Oct. 2 vote.
“If elected, I’ll return to Mexico this 12 months to consolidate a very powerful political relationship with Mexico ever, beginning in 2023,” Lula stated throughout a go to to Mexico after a gathering with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
The cooperation settlement between Lula’s Workers’ Party and the Morena party is geared toward strengthening the connection between the 2 leftist teams.
