Bukit Aman investigating death of foreign detainee at Kajang Hospital

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) is investigating a sudden death report involving a foreign detainee at Kajang Hospital on Wednesday (Feb 2).

JIPS director Datuk Azri Ahmad stated the Myanmar nationwide was despatched to the hospital on Monday (Jan 31) at about 8.10am after complaining that he was not feeling properly, after which he was admitted for additional remedy.

“The hospital knowledgeable police that the detainee died on Wednesday and the trigger of death was nonetheless undetermined,” he stated in a press release.

He stated on Jan 30, at about 5.30 pm, an area man had surrendered the foreigner to the Kajang district police headquarters on suspicion of bike theft.

Azri stated the suspect was being investigated below Section 379A of the Penal Code in addition to Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. – Bernama
