JERTIH: The male elephant captured in Kampung Padang Tapong right here on Saturday (Jan 29) was discovered useless on Monday (Jan 31).

Terengganu Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) director Loo Kean Seong mentioned the elephant, aged about 15 years previous, died at about 2.30pm Monday.

“I obtained the unhappy information from a employees member working within the area and a autopsy has been finished to find out the reason for demise.

“I’m ready for the autopsy report. The elephant might be buried on the spot the place it was chained,” Loo mentioned when contacted by Bernama Tuesday (Feb 1).

He mentioned the elephant, which weighed about two tonnes, was speculated to have been relocated with the assistance of tame elephants on Wednesday (Feb 2).

Perhilitan sprung into motion after receiving complaints from villagers that the wild bull elephant had been roaming the village of late.

On Saturday, the division subdued it with tranquilisers before it was chained to a tree pending relocation. – Bernama
