KUALA LUMPUR: Central Global Bhd is finalising the purchase of machinery that will more than triple the manufacturing capacity of industrial masking tapes at its factory in Kuala Muda, Kedah.

According to the the group, the production capacity of its factory will be increased to 70 million sq m of tapes per year from the current 20 million sq m.

“This is perfect timing for us as we currently have new potential orders of up to 30 million sq m of masking tape orders from existing customers.

“The new machinery will make us even more productive and efficient while allowing us the capacity to grow the business,” said Central Global executive chairman Datuk Faisal Zelman in a statement.

He added that the purchase will allow the group to fulfill backlog orders worth RM10mil from July and August that had been delayed due to the enhanced movement control order.

“We were only able to restart operations from 2 August 2021 and only at 60% capacity for employees, but we are pleased to announce that all our employees will be fully vaccinated by 23 August 2021,” said Faisal.

Central Global has been rolling out expansion initiatives for its manufacturing arm, which include an MoU in June for a joint venture with Multi Scopes Engineering Sdn Bhd to build a RM250mil sewage treatment plant in Kwasa Damansara, Selangor.

It was also awarded an RM101mil construction project in April this year to upgrade the water supply system in Lahad Datu, Sabah.
