Covid-19: ICU bed usage in four states at over 50%, says Health Ministry

PETALING JAYA: A complete of four states have recorded ICU bed utilisation of greater than 50%, says the Health Ministry.

It mentioned that the states are Johor (70%), Kelantan (61%), the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (58%) and Melaka (54%).

For non-ICU beds, a complete of 12 states are recording over 50% occupancy; Perlis (109%), Selangor (101%), Kelantan (100%), Perak (97%), Johor (82%), Putrajaya (79%), Sarawak (76%), Sabah (74%), Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur (73%), Pahang (58%), Penang (53%) and Terengganu (52%).

In a press release on Tuesday (Feb 22), the ministry added that in four states, the Covid-19 Integrated Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) have achieved over 50% occupancy; the states are Selangor (68%), Perak (60%), Melaka (59%) and Sabah (58%).

“The variety of Covid-19 sufferers requiring ventilators has elevated to 164 and utilisation of ventilators is at 37% of all for Covid-19 and non-Covvd-19 sufferers,” mentioned the Ministry.

It added {that a} complete 25,099 new Covid-19 instances had been detected on Monday (Feb 21) of which 1,510 instances had been hospitalised.

“Out of 1,510 instances, 578 instances (38.3%) are in Category Three, Four and Five, whereas 932 instances (61.7%) are in Category One and Two.

“Of the 25,099 new instances, 25,014 are native transmissions whereas 85 are imported instances,” it mentioned.

This brings the full variety of infections in the nation to three,246,779 instances because the pandemic started.
