PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 93 total Covid-19 fatalities on Monday (Oct 11), bringing the cumulative number of deaths due to the coronavirus to 27,422 since the pandemic began.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, the number of brought-in-dead cases recorded on Monday was 14.

No new deaths were reported in Labuan and Putrajaya.

On Oct 11, Malaysia reported 6,709 new Covid-19 cases and 10,833 recoveries.

The number of active infection currently stands at 112,379 cases, where 78.9% are those with mild infections and are undergoing home quarantine.

Another 15,356 (13.7%) are those under isolation at low-risk quarantine facilities (PKRC).

Some 6.8% or 7,622 individuals are in hospital due to Covid-19, of which 756 are in the intensive care unit.

The national ICU utilisation rate is currently at 63.3%.

States with less than 50% ICU utilisation rate are Pahang at 47.5%, Negri Sembilan (31.8%) and Labuan (13.0%).

The ICU utilisation rate in Penang is currently the highest at 81.2%.
