KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) needs authorities to go all out of their investigations into fake Covid-19 vaccination certifications and produce those concerned to face the full pressure of the legislation.

MMA president Dr Koh Kar Chai stated the heaviest punishment must be meted out because it “is a serious offence which could put countless lives in danger”.

“It is shocking that more than 5,000 vaccination certificates were issued by the clinic located in Gombak to individuals without giving vaccinations.

“We will not allow a few black sheep to tarnish the good name and reputation of the profession,” he stated in a press release on Tuesday (Jan 18).

He stated the MMA would assist the sternest motion taken in opposition to any medical practitioners discovered to be concerned in such “irresponsible and criminal acts”.

“For registered practitioners, their licence to practice can be revoked by the Malaysian Medical Council. The Private Facility Enforcement Unit at the Health Ministry should also take other stern measures, such as immediate closure of their premises and charge those found to be involved in court,” he stated.

He added that the MMA obtained a grievance on Monday from a person on fake vaccination certificates and that it could lodge a police report, including that the public may electronic mail complaints to [email protected]. – Bernama
