PETALING JAYA: The authorities have assured that it will not compromise on the protection of airline operations, following the incident of a snake discovered onboard a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong stated the ministry had been carefully coping with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) in regards to the matter.
He stated CAAM, because the technical security and safety regulator, had managed the case properly with the airline, in response to all security procedures and laws.
“Every airline follows strict necessary detailed pre-flight checks as half of regulated necessities and normal working procedures.
“As a follow-up, CAAM will proceed to observe the scenario with the airline administration to make sure all dangers are mitigated appropriately and accordingly.
“CAAM will not compromise on any subject that would doubtlessly jeopardise the protection and safety of airways operations,” stated Dr Wee, who can be MCA president.
The incident concerned an AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau, Sabah on Friday (Feb 11), wherein a snake was found onboard.
The flight was safely diverted to Kuching International Airport, Sarawak, following required security procedures.
AirAsia chief security officer Capt Liong Tien Ling had stated in experiences that acceptable motion was taken to get the reptile out of the plane earlier than it rerouted again to Tawau.
He stated the protection and wellbeing of passengers and crew have been all the time their high precedence.
It was unclear how the snake obtained into the plane, or if it belonged to any of the passengers.
No one was injured within the incident.
