Eight called up by cops over talks held before rally

KUALA LUMPUR: A complete of eight people have been called to the Brickfields district police headquarters right here on Monday (Jan 24) to file their statements on talks held final Friday with regard to the #TangkapAzamBaki rally.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Amihizam Abdul Shukor mentioned all of them have been called to help within the investigation into the occasion that was held a day before the rally was organised.

“Police are investigating the case underneath Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code, Section 9 (5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 and rules underneath the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988,” he mentioned when contacted Monday.

Amihizam mentioned there can be a number of different people called up after this.

Among these current on Monday have been activist Adam Adli Abdul Halim; DAP Youth chief Howard Lee and Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) vice-president Dr Thanussha Francis Xavier.

Also current have been Muda secretary-general Amira Aisya Abd Aziz; Pejuang Youth chief Dr Abu Hafiz Salleh Huddin; Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Youth vice-chief Zubair Rahim and Amanah Youth strategic director Asmaalif Abdul Adam.

All of them arrived at at 2.10pm with their respective attorneys and have been seen leaving at 4.15pm.

On Saturday (Jan 22), the media reported that the police had checked the non-public particulars of about 40 people, together with 12 activists who attended the #TangkapAzamBaki Youth programme organised by Amanah Youth on the Amjal Restaurant Hall in Jalan Pantai Baharu right here.

Preliminary police investigations discovered that every one the people concerned have been believed to have gathered at about 9pm on Friday to ask the general public to attend the rally held close to the Bangsar LRT station the subsequent day. – Bernama
