TAMPIN: A 66-year-old man died of a heart attack while trying to save his livestock during floods in Taman Pinggiran Felda, Gemas right here on Saturday (Jan 1) morning.

Tampin OCPD Supt Anuwal Ab Wahab mentioned the man had gone to the cow pen close to his home after floodwaters rose within the space when the incident occurred at 8am.

“The sufferer slipped and fell when he was going by way of floodwaters to the pen however his spouse, who witnessed the incident, managed to drag him to secure floor,” he informed Bernama.

A physician later confirmed the sufferer died of a heart attack and the police has categorized the case as a sudden dying (SDR).

Meanwhile, Taman Pinggiran Felda and Felda Sungai Kelamah village group administration council (MPKK) chairman Rosiyah Ab Rahman, 56, mentioned round 200 homes in close by areas have been hit by floods after Sungai Kelamah overflowed due to steady rain since Friday (Dec 31) night.

“Water started rising to chest degree since early this morning and villagers have been ordered to evacuate to the reduction centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Kelamah over issues that the floods will worsen,” she mentioned.

Felda Jelai 4 village chief, Jumasri Rahim, 53, in the meantime mentioned 20 households affected by floods when Sungai Pador overflowed have been positioned on the reduction centre at Sekolah Agama Rakyat Felda 4.

Meanwhile, in ALOR GAJAH, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali mentioned all businesses, particularly the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, have to be in a state of readiness to face a second wave of floods if downpours proceed till Monday (Jan 3).
