Football: Soccer-Haaland fires Norway to Nations League win over Serbia

BELGRADE (Reuters) – Striker Erling Haaland’s very good first-half volley gave Norway a stunning 1-0 win away to Serbia as they bought their Nations League Group B4 marketing campaign underway on Thursday, however they wanted goalkeeping heroics from Orjan Nyland to safe the win.

The guests took the lead within the twenty sixth minute as Martin Odegaard sliced open the defence with a lovely go to Marcus Pedersen who crossed for Haaland to deftly volley house from shut vary with the one shot on course within the first half.

Serbia dominated possession and put the Norwegian defence beneath great stress within the second half, however Nyland pulled off a string of high-quality saves to hold his clear sheet intact and safe the three factors for his workforce.

Serbia host Slovenia on Sunday, whereas Norway tackle Scandinavian rivals and group leaders Sweden in Stockholm.
