AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Former Liverpool striker and Netherlands worldwide Dirk Kuyt was named the new coach of ADO Den Haag on Thursday, tasked with serving to the side again to the highest flight of Dutch soccer after they missed out on promotion in a playoff on the weekend.

He is the fifth coach in three years for the membership, relegated final yr, and takes up his first senior function after beforehand teaching Feyenoord’s under-19 side.

“Pretty soon after my playing career ended, it was my ambition to become a coach. I have invested in that in recent years and now this opportunity has presented itself,” the 41-year-old Kuyt stated at his presentation on Thursday.

“That’s a critical purpose, however I prefer it. ADO is a sleeping large, it actually appeals to me to begin as a coach there and to develop. I see it as an unlimited problem to convey ADO again to the place it belongs,” he added.
