(Reuters) -Manchester United have withdrawn Russian airline Aeroflot’s sponsorship rights after Russia invaded Ukraine, the Premier League membership stated on Friday.

Russia’s Aeroflot was banned from flying to the United Kingdom on Thursday after President Vladimir Putin ordered an invasion of Ukraine. UK Civil Aviation Authority stated it had suspended Aeroflot’s international service allow.

“In gentle of occasions in Ukraine, we’ve withdrawn Aeroflot’s sponsorship rights. We share the issues of our followers around the globe and prolong our sympathies to these affected,” a membership spokesperson stated.

United made Aeroflot its first Russian sponsor in 2013 when it turned the membership’s airline associate, changing Turkish Airlines.

Russia has been condemned for its invasion of Ukraine by a number of sports activities our bodies and on Friday the nation misplaced its internet hosting rights for the Champions League closing in May whereas Formula One stated the Grand Prix in Sochi couldn’t go forward.
