Gunfire, explosions rock Somalian capital in militant attacks

MOGADISHU (Reuters) – Gunfire and explosions went off in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu in the early hours of Wednesday as al Shabaab militants attacked police stations and safety examine factors, the interior safety minister mentioned.

Al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab, which goals to topple the central authorities and impose its extreme interpretation of Islamic regulation, carries out frequent attacks in opposition to the federal government, together with attacking a minibus carrying election delegates final week.

“The terrorists attacked the suburbs of Mogadishu and focused our police stations and examine factors,” Abdullahi Nor, the minister, wrote on Twitter.

“Our safety defeated the enemy.”

There have been no quick particulars on casualties. Police would offer extra particulars on the attacks, the minister mentioned.

There was no quick remark from al Shabaab.
