Hajiji tells Sabah civil service to change how it works, improve delivery system

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor desires the state civil service to make the 12 months 2022 the start line to change how it works and communicates so as to uplift the Sabah authorities’s picture.

Besides the shift in mindset on the work course of and communications, Hajiji mentioned civil servants should additionally step up with higher and daring concepts to improve the delivery of the state’s Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) improvement plan.

He mentioned this was in step with the federal government’s goal of making an investor-friendly state particularly to appeal to overseas funding.

“We want to bring in more foreign investors and ensure the process is simplified while at the same time ensuring the civil service’s delivery system is improved,” he mentioned right here on Tuesday (June 14).

“This will provide confidence to the international community over the investment prospects here which will subsequently enhance Sabah’s economy.”

Hajiji was talking through the launch of the Sabah Public Sector Innovation Awards 2021 (ISAS 2021) ceremony at Menara Kinabalu right here on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister mentioned the Sabah civil service have to be on par or change into a shining instance to different states in Malaysia.

As such, he hoped the state and federal secretaries’ workplaces may collaborate with one another to begin the ball rolling over the mindset shift this 12 months.

He mentioned all heads of state and federal departments have to be the catalyst to spur change among the many civil servants.

“The heads of departments play such a significant role in spearheading innovation in the agencies they lead,” he mentioned.

Meanwhile, Hajiji mentioned the civil service was the spine behind improvement within the state in addition to the first instigator of the SMJ improvement plan.

As such, he mentioned he supported the ISAS 2021as a way to inspire the general public sector to improve the state’s delivery system in addition to implement the SMJ plan.

“If we are lazy and unable to adapt to change, then we will be left behind especially in the digital era now.

“In an effort to innovate the state’s delivery system, civil servants must be more alert and responsive to the needs of the people,” Hajiji mentioned.
