Hisham: 96 premises ordered closed for SOP violations nationwide

PETALING JAYA: Nearly a hundred premises have been ordered to close following Covid-19 spot checks on Friday (Aug 13).

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, in his daily statement, said that 77,326 inspections were conducted, leading to 96 premises being ordered to close for failing to adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

A further 149 people were issued compounds, with six remanded by the authorities.

On enhanced movement control order (EMCO) updates, the minister said that a further nine EMCOs have been placed in localities in Sabah and Pahang.

Eight of the newly announced EMCOs are in Tawau, Ranau, Beluran, Penampang, Kota Belud and Kudat.

An EMCO has also been placed in a locality in Cameron Highlands.

All will begin on Aug 16, and end on Aug 29.

Under Ops Benteng, four illegal immigrants were arrested on Aug 13, with four vehicles seized.
