Hong Kong actor Joseph Lee Kwok Lun is feeling responsible about sending his father to a nursing dwelling, HK01 reported.
In a current interview with the Hong Kong information outlet, Lee disclosed that his father suffered from cerebral atrophy in his later years.
However, the TVB star failed to grasp the severity of his father’s situation on the time and determined to put the latter in a nursing dwelling.
“I did not make an effort to perceive (my dad’s) situation properly and even blamed him for it. But in actuality, he was ailing and he himself did not know what he was doing,” the 68-year-old stated.
According to the National Institute Of Neurological Disorders And Stroke, cerebral atrophy refers to “the lack of nerve cells and the connections that assist them talk within the mind’s tissues”.
Symptoms embody dementia, issue speaking, lack of coordination and disturbances in talking and understanding language.
Lee revealed that his father would have episodes within the evening, gathering objects belonging to different residents on the nursing dwelling. On one event, he took somebody’s sneakers and introduced them to the police station.
Moreover, his father engaged in bodily altercations with different residents. He had to be restrained with a straitjacket.
“My coronary heart ached once I noticed him in a straitjacket together with his ft tied … I might cover and cry after each visit as I used to be afraid of letting my spouse and daughter (see my misery),” he stated.
Lee made his appearing debut in 1975 and has since secured a number of roles in dramas like Beyond The Realm Of Conscience (2009), Forensic Heroes III (2011) and The Ringmaster (2021). Lee informed HK01 that his father raised him with strict values and disapproved of his alternative to pursue a profession within the leisure trade.
Lee was nominated within the Best Supporting Actor and Most Popular Male Character classes on the TVB Awards Presentation 2022 for his efficiency within the 2022 crime sequence Against Darkness.
Lee, who married in 1997, has a 21-year-old daughter.
