AMPANG: A construction company’s human resources executive, who is also its accounts assistant, was detained for alleged criminal breach of trust amounting to RM4mil.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the company’s director suspected that the female worker had allegedly taken the company’s funds in November last year.

“The director realised that the company’s funds had been significantly reduced and suspected the worker,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (Sept 7).

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had transferred the company’s funds into her private bank account in multiple transactions amounting to RM4mil, ACP Mohamad Farouk said.

“The suspect had access to the company’s account after the director went on sick leave from January 2018 until June 2020,” he added.

ACP Mohamad Farouk said the suspect was arrested on Monday (Sept 6).

“We also discovered that a bank account belonging to the suspect was used in the transactions.

“She has been remanded for four days.

“We are still in the midst of investigating the matter and it will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor once the investigation is completed,” he said.

The case is classified under Section 408 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust.
