Leinster have apologised after the Wolfe Tones song ‘Celtic Symphony’ was played following Sunday’s win over Connacht on the RDS.
The song options the lyric “Ooh Ah, Up the Ra!” in reference to the IRA.
It has been reported the song was light out after one verse and refrain as gamers did a lap of honour.
“A song was played over the PA on the RDS Arena this night that should not have been played,” a Leinster spokesperson stated.
“Leinster Rugby has taken measures to make sure it does not occur once more and apologises sincerely for its use and for any offence precipitated.”
The Republic of Ireland girls’s soccer crew beforehand apologised after a video emerged of gamers singing the refrain of the identical song after qualifying for the World Cup.
Uefa fined the Football Association of Ireland 20,000 euros after the sport at Hampden Park in October, and described the incident as “a violation of the essential guidelines of first rate conduct”.
