PETALING JAYA: Malaysians have been urged to pray that the start of the Lunar New Year on Tuesday (Feb 1) is filled with hope and love.
In its Chinese New Year greeting, the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) stated these might be manifested via “tangible acts of moderation, understanding and unconditional acceptance of each other.”
“May all of us experience only the best fortune in the Year of the Tiger which, according to Chinese astrology, is the king of all beasts and also a symbol of strength and braveness.
“We also call upon fellow Malaysians to join our Chinese brothers and sisters to face the difficulties of the time while continuing in the celebrations towards the spirit of a new decade with new beginnings and renewals towards a peaceful, prosperous and harmonious Malaysia,” it stated in a assertion on Monday (Jan 31).
The message was endorsed by Jagir Arjan Singh of the Malaysian Gurdwaras Council, Datuk RS Mohan Shan of the Malaysia Hindu Sangam, Tan Hoe Chieow of the Federation of Taoist Associations Malaysian, Seet Lee Terk of the Malaysia Buddhist Association and Archbishop Julian Leow Beng Kim of the Christian Federation of Malaysia.
