ACTOR Zul Ariffin acquired main criticism from netizens after he shared a teaser from his upcoming drama Perempuan Itu, directed by Erma Fatima, on his Instagram.
The 23-second teaser confirmed the lead actors in some provocative positions.
The most eyebrow-raising pictures contain actress Siti Hariesa’s character – wearing a French maid outfit – feeding Zul Ariffin’s character whipped cream together with her finger, and Zul’s character carrying the lead actress up to the desk in an indecent place.
The actor has since eliminated the video from his account due to the backlash that he acquired from Malaysians. However, the clip has continued circulating on social media particularly Twitter.
Netizens have stated that the scenes are inappropriate and unsuitable for Malaysians, particularly for Muslims.
In addition, Perempuan Itu is ready to be launched throughout the month of Ramadan which additional angered netizens. Some questioned why the collection was given permission to be aired within the first place.
TV3, the station which was set to display the drama, launched a press release distancing the community from the manufacturing, saying that “it should not have happened”, and reminding all these concerned within the manufacturing to “be more sensitive” to social norms.
