Manchester United are on the verge of finishing their third summer time signing after agreeing a £45m deal with Ajax for Argentina defender Lisandro Martinez.
United supervisor Erik ten Hag was eager to be reunited with the 24-year-old, who he signed for Ajax in 2019.
The Dutch membership have been reluctant to let Martinez go away however United chief government Richard Arnold and soccer director John Murtough progressed the deal after they visited Amsterdam final week.
Martinez prefers to play on the left aspect of two central defenders and Ten Hag gave the impression to be planning for his arrival with his workforce choice against Melbourne Victory on Friday, when he moved captain Harry Maguire from his regular left-sided position to the best.
Martinez has flown to Manchester for a medical and to wrap up the remaining components of the switch, together with getting a visa.
It is believed unlikely he’ll fly to Australia to play any half in United’s present tour and as a substitute will hyperlink up with his new team-mates after they return to England on 24 July.

On Friday, they confirmed Christian Eriksen had signed a three-year contract whereas efforts proceed to lure Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford from Barcelona.
Despite stories that Netherlands midfielder De Jong could also be left out of Barca’s US tour to encourage him to agree a transfer, he has been named within the squad.
Dutch full-back Tyrell Malacia was United’s first summer time signing in the beginning of July.
