MELAKA: Melaka police have not received any police report on two viral audio recordings allegedly involving conversations of two assemblymen who had recently defected from the Barisan Nasional/Perikatan Nasional-led state government.
Melaka deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Razali Abu Samah said there were no police reports lodged so far.
“We will open investigation papers if there are reports lodged,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (Oct 12).
The first recording supposedly contains a conversation between Sungai Udang assemblyman Idris Haron and Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
However, Idris has denied being the man in the audio recording and claimed that it was impossible for him to call the Prime Minister on the phone.
The second recording is purportedly a conversation between Pengkalan Batu assemblyman Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee and Alor Gajah Umno information chief Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis.
In the recording, Jailani, who is also the assemblyman for Rembia, was apparently heard advising Norhizam to file a police report to defend himself from any allegations of going against the historic memorandum of understanding signed by Ismail Sabri and the Opposition.
There was also mention of a supposed offer of RM2mil to Norhizam as an inducement if he did not defect.
Idris and Norhizam along with Pantai Kundor assemblyman Datuk Nor Azman Hassan, Telok Mas assemblyman Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad withdrew their support from the Barisan Nasional/Perikatan Nasional-led state government last Monday (Oct 4).
However, Norhizam has yet to respond whether he is the man behind the second recording.
