Melaka Polls: Unbiased candidate mounts a horse whereas campaigning in Serkam

JASIN: An Unbiased candidate in Serkam determined to undertake an uncommon means of campaigning within the Melaka state election by mounting a horse for his rounds in Kampung Paya Tanjung.

Carrying a poster bearing his candidate quantity and pen image, former lecturer Datuk Norazlanshah Hazali went on a two-kilometre journey astride the horse, to introduce himself to voters.

“On account of restrictions imposed underneath the brand new regular, campaigning on a horse is an efficient solution to convey my message and persuade residents to vote for me.

“Due to the pandemic, it’s tough to get near residents. So, we’ve to give you one of the best means to abide by the usual working procedures (SOP) set by the Nationwide Safety Council (NSC) and Election Fee (EC),” he informed reporters right here on Monday (Nov 15).

The 41-year-old Norazlanshah, who has a PhD in Meals Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), pledged to resolve points dealing with fishermen in Serkam and to carry reasonably priced housing growth to the realm if elected.

Serkam, which has 15,977 registered voters, is seeing a four-cornered struggle involving Norazlanshah, Ahmad Bilal Rahudin of Perikatan Nasional, Muhammad Khomeini Kamal (Pakatan Harapan) and Datuk Zaidi Attan (Barisan Nasional).

Within the 14th common election, Zaidi received the seat with a majority of two,737 votes.

Early voting is tomorrow whereas polling is on Nov 20 for the state polls, which had been known as following the dissolution of the Melaka Legislative Meeting on Oct 4 after 4 assemblymen withdrew assist for Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali as chief minister. – Bernama
