Former England captain Michael Vaughan is stepping back from his work at BBC amid the “ongoing dialogue” across the Yorkshire racism investigation.
On Monday a joint letter by two teams of BBC employees raised issues concerning the 47 year-old’s continued involvement within the broadcaster’s cricket protection.
Vaughan has at all times denied the allegation.
Vaughan was named in Yorkshire’s report into Azeem Rafiq’s claims of racism throughout his time at the membership.
He has denied an allegation that he made a racist remark to a gaggle of Asian gamers.
Vaughan was not concerned within the BBC’s protection of the Ashes in Australia over the winter, however returned to commentary in March.
“It is at all times regrettable when commentary on issues off the sector take the main focus away from what’s occurring on the sector. In view of the continued dialogue on the topic, I’ve taken the choice to step back from my work for the BBC in the intervening time,” Vaughan mentioned in a press release.
“The key driver for that is my concern for the wellbeing of my members of the family and my want to defend their household life. Stepping back quickly can also be within the pursuits of the sport and I hope that it’ll minimise any difficulties for my work colleagues.”
In a press release, the BBC mentioned: “Following conversations with Michael Vaughan we have accepted his resolution to step away from our cricket protection. This is a choice we respect and perceive. Michael stays underneath contract to the BBC..”
